Starving to Death in a Grocery Store

But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:6

I was listening to a sermon given by Vlad Savchek and what he said about this verse really struck home with me. All too often we want to pray and cry and complain and whine that we need strength. We want God to feed us and make us stronger. But we aren't toddlers. We can feed ourselves. The food is right there waiting for us to take and eat.

As I was thinking about this, I came across some notes I had taken during a sermon preached by Doug Brooks, Sr. I edited the notes below.

We're starving to death in a grocery store - That's how we live. We have access to God's Word, both written and in audio form, we have His Spirit living within us, and can go to Him in prayer at any time. Yet we allow ourselves to starve spiritually. We even have churches all around us and make excuses not to attend.

Today, I have basically just done what I wanted to do. I slept in and took it slow - did some laundry, took trash to the landfill, met our new neighbor and had Michael take some eggs over to them. Days like this are important. A couple times I started to think of things I "should" be doing and decided this wasn't the day for it. I loved sitting on the front porch, drinking coffee, writing, and listening to audiobooks and videos.

Seeds

One thing I loved doing today was getting a few more things planted in the garden.

Walk

This afternoon I took a walk and loved seeing this tree blooming.

Some of things I listened to today.

Here is the video I referenced at the beginning of this post.
