Friday - Pondering and Playing

Updated: Jun 19, 2023

For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in Him are made right with God. . . . If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. ~ Romans 10:4, 9-10

It is so freeing to know that Jesus has already accomplished everything necessary for our salvation and for living a life of abundance in Him. Our salvation is secure when we believe and declare Him. Then we are free to live the lives He has called us to, with His love, His joy, His peace, flowing through us to everyone around us.

Today was super busy and we had lots of fun together.

There was a treasure hunt with a "map" that led them on quite a journey, both on foot and on horseback. They found a wide variety of treasure, and there were some rather heated discussions about whether a few of their finds were truly treasure or not.

The babies were well taken care of . . .

. . . and everyone stayed busy playing, drawing, and watching the world go by outside.

As usual we enjoyed lots of books.

This afternoon and evening the older kids enjoyed drawing . . . .

, , , , and playing games.

Even though we were very busy today I did get some time to read early this morning and again this afternoon at nap time. These are the books that I've been enjoying lately.

"It is indeed a compelling speculation to consider that the voice of God that resounds over the entire universe could actually sustain the material world at a quantum level by energizing and vibrating the tiny strings that some theoretical physicists believe constitute the underlying fabric of of the physical order. And what an equally fascinating thought that the entire physical universe is perhaps a mysterious dance of microscopic strings of energy that are perpetually vibrating to the multi-textured voice that sounds like many waters!" pg 171

"Your greatest vanity is assuming that you can do something so wrong that God can't turn it into good."

"What if I was blinded by my need to be used by God? My desire to have a purpose, to feel like I'm important in God's eyes? I'm starting to realize that is its own kind of vanity."

"Unspeakable gratitude flowed up in her like a well. Her own missteps could never be enough to thwart God's glorious plan. Not for them. Not for her."

These quotes from Wife of Chuza by Katrina D. Hamel have stayed with me since I read them. I sometimes find myself nearly paralyzed with the fear of making the wrong decision. I am learning that trusting God also includes trusting God with myself, knowing that Romans 8:28 is true - And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him. This is so comforting and takes the pressure off because I can trust Him.

It's been a long day but it's been a good one.
