My Favorite Verse This Week
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
Kids
The weather was beautiful the week; mild and mostly sunny so we spent a lot of time outside. I love our backyard, it's nothing fancy, but a lot happens here - lots of playing hard, laughing, loving, and, in all honesty, sometimes fighting and arguing. It's all a part of learning and growing.
We love us some baby time!
In the small amount of time we were inside we did color a few pictures.
Animals
Playful love pats from Gray. He's been very sociable and affectionate lately. He has his moods where he doesn't want to be touched or talked to, but when he's ready he's the most loving cat ever.
Growing Green Things
Monday I decided to repot the Hens and Chicks plant Chris gave me for Mother's Day last year. It had outgrown its pot, especially on the sides. I bought a new pot, filled it with potting soil and planted it full of little starts, but even after it was full, I had many little starts left over. So, I planted the rest in a starter tray for now. I guess I'm going to have to get some more planters.
What I'm Reading
I absolutely loved this book! It's not a real long book, but it is packed with truth and inspiration in form of a story. I'm sharing some of my favorite excerpts below.
Dreams are the Creator's gift to us. They are his way of bringing us closer to his own heart. They are his dreams for us, and it is why he has given us the desire to seek them, a mind to order them, and a heart to make them come alive."
pg. 8
"It is amusing to me that you believed in the dream enough to pursue it, but when things became difficult - when the narrow thinking of others discouraged you - you quit. You wanted your life to be significant and to be respected by men who are doing no great things? They convinced you your ideas were worthless? And what weight did their opinions carry?
"Would a man who trusted God need the opinions of others in order to be confident about his dream?"
pgs. 23, 24
"People dream up things which the Creator would gladly fulfill, but they are so distracted, impatient, unbelieving, and easily discouraged, that when they are given the very thing they once asked for, they become like cowards simply because their dream comes disguised as a setback and never easily achieved."
pg. 24
"Can you imagine how weak you would be if you had no struggles or obstacles? You would be like a daisy, dead at the first frost of fall. What kind of Creator would give you what you wanted just because you begged?
pg. 24
"Sow seeds of doubt, fear, jealousy, hate, poverty, laziness, and they will overgrow your life like the weeds they are. They will choke any dream or vision you possess. And because they are weeds, they will always thrive wherever there is neglected soil! Weeds sprout rapidly, but a good harvest takes time and effort, this will always be the struggle of life. One must continually fight laziness, indifference, mediocrity, and fear to keep them at bay. Rest for too long, and the weeds start to creep back into the garden"
pg. 29
