Favorite Verse This Week
This week I have two favorite verses from my morning reading.
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His grace give us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say. ~ 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
I have called you back from the ends of the earth, saying, "You are my servant." For I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious night hand. ~ Isaiah 41:9-10
Animals
Scout (orange) and Ranger (gray) wrestle and roll every morning and evening but in the afternoon, they love like to snuggle and nap - resting up for the next battle.
Amanda bought Tinkerbell a spider costume; Parsley (strange name for a cat, I know) enjoying being petted; and Amanda hanging out with Quinta, Gray, and Tinkerbell.
Gray loves to join us when we burn the random sticks from the yard in the firepit. He seems to think he's our guard cat.
Kids
The weather was beautiful this week and we spent a lot of time outside. This is our favorite way to spend out days.
My niece and nephew came to hang out with us one afternoon.
We pick up the pears every morning and take them to the chickens. This week some of them were nice enough to save and eat for snacks.
We had fun learning about nocturnal animals (bats, foxes and owls) and manners (please and thank you).
I love these dot paints and so do they. We can have the fun of painting without quite so much mess.
Our letter of the week was Xx.
In the Kitchen
We've had some good food this week!
Books
Here is some of the reading I've been enjoying this week.
I have really been enjoying this book this week. I may have lost a little sleep because I didn't want to put it down. Here are a few passages from this book that I have been pondering.
"There is no pain like the pain of doubt, and no joy like the resolution of doubt."
"If you are seeking a decisive rationalistic proof for the existence of God., I am sorry to disappoint you. God created man with free will. Had He created a world in which the truth was visible to the naked eye, man would have no choice but to choose good. He, therefore, created the world in such a manner that goes against every rationalistic proof of God's existence. There is a rationalistic proof in the opposite direction. The only way to believe in Him is through one's free will.
With that free will comes empirical proof. . .if someone tells you one night that tomorrow morning the sun is not going to rise, you won't believe him. Countless generations experiencing the rising sun etched this knowledge into our hearts. Without the sun, plants and animals cannot survive.
It is the same with belief in God. The Jewish People served God down through time, witnessed His miracles and believed in Him. In that light, any rationalistic proof is secondary, Yet, the world's nations, many generations of which worshipped trees and stones, are incapable of recognizing His existence, either rationally or empirically."
And here are a few excerpts from a couple other books I was reading. They have short chapters and I read one from each most mornings.
Videos I've Enjoyed This Week
I'm still watching Jordan Peterson's lectures. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I don't. But they always make me think!
