I don't think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains. ~ Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl.
. . . . forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. ~ Philippians 3:13
It's easy to become fixated on the past—old wounds, missed chances, and time gone by. However, apart from the lessons gained, constantly dwelling on an unchangeable past is of little benefit. It's a little like attempting to drive forward while staring into the rearview mirror—ineffective and somewhat risky. Instead, let's live forward and love the life God has given us the privilege of living now, moving into a beautiful future.

Every morning they run and run and run!

Our hardworking lawn mowing crew.

We have two hens sitting on eggs. I think there may be too many eggs here, but this was just after I disturbed them, so I'll check back and see if they seem to be able to keep them all warm. I went through and marked the eggs already there so that we can gather the rest from now on. I'm so excited about the possibility of chicks!

I worked on pulling weeds around the tomatoes and cucumbers this morning. There are lots of baby cucumbers coming along. And check out my handsome little supervisor!

This building set I found at Goodwill has been so popular and they have been so creative with it.

This and that - busy little people.

I love summer scenery!

I love that I get the privilege of hanging out with little people all day, teaching them, playing with them, and just enjoying their company. But I try to keep learning myself as well. There's a whole wide world out there and people who are sharing the lessons they have learned in life and the things they are thinking about. Books, YouTube videos and podcasts are some of my best friends. Here is some of what I enjoyed today.
I listened to this video at 4 AM while driving home from taking Chris to work. While it was pretty basic, reviewing time-tested tips, it was worth listening to for the reminders. She covered things like winning the morning, time blocking, planning the day the evening before and celebrating small wins.
"Mankind must connect to the God of all riches to truly enjoy - and to avoid being controlled by - material wealth. Thank God, when that divine connection takes place and we are gloriously born again, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in our hearts and we begin the adventure of the truly privileged; discovering our riches in Christ." ~ pg. 11
"He has every resource at His disposal, both things seen and unseen. Nothing lies beyond His ownership." ~ pg. 12
In this episode of Optimal Living Daily, Joshua Becker challenges us to try to offer one compliment in each conversation with others. This small action can have a positive ripple effect that benefits everyone involved.
This episode was filled with practical tips, ways to make the task of keeping up with laundry a little more pleasant (maybe), and a reminder that you are not alone in this seemingly never-ending endeavor.
