Catching Up Again

Hazy Early Morning

By faith the people passed through the Red sea as on dry land. ~ Hebrews 11:6

This verse took me back to the day when I sat on a hillside and wept, wondering where God was, and why I couldn't see what He was doing. And I remember so clearly how He whispered to me that I needed to stop trying to see a way through and simply let Him handle it. Because as long as I tried to see a victory on my terms, I was going to miss what He was doing. The people of Israel were headed to a land of freedom after centuries of slavery. And they found themselves facing the Red sea with a powerful Egyptian army quickly advancing from behind. In their eyes there was no way this could end in anything but tragedy. Human reasoning said there was no way out. But Moses cries out to God and God makes a way. And it was a way I'm sure none of them could have even imagined. The Sea before them parted, rose up in walls on either side of a dry path, and the Israelites traveled through to the other side. Now, I didn't see any seas part, but I did see God make paths where there seemed to be no paths. But He did it His way, not the way I thought it should be done. And I am so grateful, because His way was so much better than anything I could have imagined.

Spring seems to enjoy teasing us this year, with stretches of cold windy weather between the nice days, but we've made the most of our time outside.

We've also had lots of fun on the days we were stuck inside.

Everyone loves spending time with the ducks and chickens and they are growing up fast!

Amanda took this video of her bearded dragon, Chloe, devouring a meal of meal worms. I asked her to send it to me so I could share it here.

We're a little late on the garden this year but it's coming along.

And we've been enjoying lots and lots of family time!

As always I've been doing a lot of reading and here is an excerpt from a book I read recently. I loved this series and would absolutely recommend it.

"Being afraid is nothing to be ashamed of, but it is not an emotion you don't want to play with either. It can be a strong weapon of the enemy because he only needs to make sure the seed takes hold then you will do the rest of the work for him. . . . it's time you began walking in your authority again. . . . You are a child of the most high. You are a warrior in this time of battle and I need you back in line. You got blindsided and I gave you a moment to lick your wounds, but you need to shake it off and remember whose you are and who you're fighting. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." pgs 386, 388
