So Many Things Good and Beautiful

Monday 5/23

Guard your heart above all else,

for it determines the course of your life.

~ Proverbs 4:23

The best way to guard our hearts is by giing our hearts to God. When we make Him the center of our lives and the source of our strength, what we do will flow out from Him.

So instead of fitting God into our daily routines, let's create our daily routines around our relationship with God. Let's create space for God to speak to us and restore us. Let's allow God to heal the parts of our lives that are broken so that what comes of us is good, encouraging, and leading abundant, joy-filled life. ~ YouVersion Devotional

I love this concept of creating our daily routines around our relationship with God. It brings a new perspective to all the things it is so easy to fill each day with, many of which have no real value. There is so much value in guarding our heart and the things that flow from it, so that the course of our lives follow His plan, because it's a good and beautiful way to live.

Today was a beautiful day and we enjoyed lots of fun time outside.

Today both Jay and Chris celebrated their 49th birthday. I didn't get any pictures but we had a family get together at Jay and Darlene's. Darlene made delicious homemade pizza and we had chips and fruit and ice cream cake. David and Katrina and baby Deeks were there as well. Family time is so much fun and such a blessing!

And finally, here is a thought provoking excerpt from a book I read recently.

"David would say we have to forgive ourselves because God forgives us, so if we don't, we're rejecting God's mercy and holding ourselves out as a higher tribunal than God, which is hubris in its highest form." pg. 35
