I Don’t Want to Settle!

Writer: Rosaline Kaye Rosaline Kaye

We know the story of Abraham being told by God to travel to a land He would show him, and his subsequent journey to the land of Canaan. But when I was reading in Genesis one day last week this little prequel to the story caught my attention.

Genesis 11:31-32 Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Harran, they settled there. Terah lived 205 years, and he died in Harran.

I wonder why Terah left for Canaan and then settled in Harran. It makes me wonder how many times I start out well and then settle. I don’t want to die in Harran; I want to get to Canaan!!! Both in this life and the next.

Today was another gorgeous day! It's clear Spring is just around the corner, and it makes us so happy.

Kids car set

Hobby horse

Gathering eggs

The kids love gathering eggs.

Child looking at a book

It seems to be a fascinating book.

Tool day

Today was National Tool Day so we learned about tools and practiced our counting and gluing skills.

Bible story

Our Bible story today

Johnny Appleseed

We learned about Johny Appleseed and his journeys across the country, barefoot and with his tin cooking pot on his head, planting apple trees wherever he went.

Taco salad

Michael and I made tacos/taco salad for dinner this evening. I always like mine as a salad with Doritos and lettuce as a base.

Chicken coop

It was nice out this evening and I haven't hung out with the chickens for a while so I sat in the chicken coop and had a little photo shoot. There's just something about watching a flock of chickens that relaxes and soothes me.

Chicken roost

I got tired of taking photos but not tired of the chickens, so I pulled up an audiobook to listen to and a game to play while I listened. It was wonderful until I realized I was in the drop zone of a hen that had decided to roost over my head.

And that was enough adventure for one day!

I'm sure there will be plenty more tomorrow.
