Growing, Learning, Living, Loving - Tuesday August 1

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

~ Colossians 2:6-7

Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible , and suddenly you are doing the impossible. ~ St. Francis of Assisi

These verses and this quote have me thinking about growth. Each of us is either growing or dying. There is no way to simply remain stagnant. So that brings me to the question for today - What are three areas you wish to enhance, develop, or grow?

I took some time to think through this question for myself and these are the three areas I identified for myself.

  1. Prayer - Prayer is the lifeline of a relationship with God. This process of communicating and listening brings a depth and vibrancy to this most important of relationships and yet it is so easy to neglect it. I'm not sure why since it's so simple.

  2. Consistency - I have a daily routine complete with a daily "launch pad" that I have put a lot of thought into and that I know will give me good results. My challenge is consistently using the system that I know works.

  3. Self-care - I hesitated to put this here because it feels so selfish. But sometimes the most unselfish things to do is something that feels selfish. Because when I am over-tired, when I feel frumpy, when I haven't had the proper nourishment, and my soul needs refreshing, I have nothing left for anyone else. So in order to be more effective and to have more to give to those I love, I need to also care for myself. And how do I do this? See number 2.

Today has been very busy and very good.

He told me to make a wish and then he blew all fluff off the dandelion for me 😊

Coffee and a bite to eat.

Lots of building and hauling blocks

They said they were zombies and they were pretty convincing.

Hiding out in one of their favorite little hideaways.

We learned about the five senses, read stories, listened to music and looked at books.

Michael had an appointment at the spine clinic today and was referred for physical therapy for his back pain. And we had a pretty cool sidekick 😊

And a little excerpt from a good book . . .

The voice of one crying in the wilderness: "Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough places smooth; and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken. (Isaiah 40:3-5)

The ultimate purpose of the coming of Christ was to reveal the glory of God to all flesh. But the coming of Jesus was just the beginning. He commissioned His disciples to perpetuate the ministry of the Father's glory to the ends of the earth. The same glory that the Father imparted to Jesus was imparted to His disciples. In John 17 Jesus prayed to the Father, "The glory which You gave Me, I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one." (John17:22)

. . . . . . . . . . .

The ministry of the church is a ministry of heaven's glory.
