Captive Thoughts, Homemade Goodness and More -Monday, September 24, 2024

On My Mind

For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. ~ Proverbs 23:7

Thoughts create feelings. Instead of placing the blame for our feelings on the weather, the other person's mood, or any other circumstance, we have to understand that our thoughts about the circumstances create our feelings. And we can take charge of our thoughts.

Since we know that God has good plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11), and we know that whatever happens to us is working for our good (Romans 8:28), we do not have to allow our minds to be filled with worry, anxiety, anger, or other negative thoughts. Instead, we can take captive every thought and make it obedient to what we know God has already told us. (2 Corinthians 10:5)

Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

In the Kitchen

Homemade bread

I made homemade bread today using this recipe - World's Easiest Homemade Sandwich Bread - that has become my staple. I've made it so many times that I have memorized it. I like to add a healthy pour (I don't measure it) of Italian Seasoning and a sprinkle of garlic powder to the dry ingredients when I mix it.

Homemade pizza

This evening, I made homemade pizza for dinnertopped with pepperoni, bacon, and sauteed onions, peppers, and spinach.

Our Veterans - Thoughts, News and Notes

Sometimes it's good to read the positive stories. Thanks to the aid provided by a military veteran combat medic a motorcycle driver was saved after an accident. Read the full story here.

Notary Solutions Plus - News and Notes

We know Mark Twain as a famous writer. My favorite of his books is Tom Sawyer. But he held many different jobs in his life and one of them was a Notary Public in Nevada. I wonder if any of the lessons he learned about human nature as a notary found their way into his writing?

When the rivers swell

"Cain's first sin was that he didn't trust the Lord to provide for him if he brought his best crops. So he brought his best worst. But God still gave him a second chance, which Cain squandered. He was angry and killed his brother out of spite, an act he then denied. Even after all of that, God still protected Cain, who was afraid someone might murder him after he was exiled. You aren't out of chances either. " pg. 177
